While our neighbors to the north are still digging their way out of an epically snowy winter, spring has sprung here in Charleston! Every season in the Holy City is special in its own right, but spring is easily our favorite time of the year. It’s not just the mild weather and pleasant coastal breeze, though. Spring kicks off Charleston’s event season, with some annual favorites calling locals and visitors alike out to enjoy what the city has to offer.

This past weekend just marked the 10th annual BB&T Charleston Wine + Food Festival, when the nation’s most renowned foodies descend on our fair city to celebrate its culinary prowess. From local chef-lebrities like Bob Waggoner, Mike Lata and Sean Brock, to out-of-town heavyweights like Frank Stitt and Jean-Paul Bourgeois, this year’s lineup was one for the books. Charleston is nothing short of a food haven year-round, but during Wine + Food, the scene becomes an unforgettable experience. If you weren’t able to make it this year, you definitely need to save the date for 2016. And until then, do yourself a favor and sample some of the city’s world-famous eateries. Call it research for next year’s festival!

Later this month, the city will be showing off its fashionable side during Charleston Fashion Week. The event has become a launchpad for talented designers from the southeast and beyond. One of the week’s marquee events, the Spring Bridal Show, is perfect for brides looking to celebrate their special day in style! If you find yourself in the city March 17 and the 21st, Charleston Fashion Week is a must.

The south and grits. Two things that go hand and hand. So it come as no surprise that Charleston plays host to the World Grits Festival. From April 10-12, the 30th annual festival will feature family fun and food. This is definitely a great one for the whole family to enjoy!

We could go on and on about the different events hosted in Charleston in the coming weeks but, truth be told, there are almost too many to mention. The best way to celebrate the season and enjoy what the city has to offer is get outside and wander. Chances are you’ll find yourself walking into a street fair, festival or other event. That’s what really makes the season special. Those unplanned moments that end up becoming wildly memorable days.
